Editorial Independence
BBI rankings cannot be purchased.
Unlike traditional directories where businesses can pay for top placement, BBI operates with strict editorial independence. Our scoring algorithm evaluates every business using the exact same criteria. While we do offer clearly labeled "Sponsored" placements to support our platform, these advertisements have absolutely zero impact on a business's organic BBI ranking score.
We recalculate all rankings on the first of every month to ensure our index reflects the current reality of the market.
How We Work
Our proprietary scoring engine evaluates businesses out of 100 points, broken down into six transparent categories:
- Customer Reviews (35%): Quality and consistency of customer feedback
- Review Volume (25%): Quantity of feedback to ensure statistical significance
- Online Presence (15%): Digital footprint and accessibility
- Verification Status (10%): Confirmation of legitimate business operations
- Profile Completeness (10%): Availability of crucial consumer information
- Editorial Assessment (15%): Independent quality review by our team
